A direct ophthalmoscope is a hand held diagnostic instrument built in two parts: a head carrying the optics and the light source, and a cylindrical handle that holds the batteries and screws onto the head. Inside the head a rotating lens wheel, the Rekoss disc, brings a graduated range of plus and minus correcting lenses into the viewing path, so the examiner can focus on the fundus without a separate hand held lens. The lenses step from one value to the next; the wheel is not a smooth dial. A second wheel selects among apertures and filters, commonly a small spot, a large spot, a slit, a fixation graticule, a red free filter and a cobalt blue filter, each suited to a different part of the examination. Handles are built in 2.5 V and 3.5 V systems, the higher voltage giving more light. It differs from an indirect ophthalmoscope, which is worn on the head or held at a distance and used together with a separate condensing lens to give a wider, inverted view of the retina, where the direct instrument gives a narrower, upright one close to the eye. ISO 10942 sets out the requirements and test methods for direct ophthalmoscopes, and ISO 10943 does the same for indirect ones.

How it is built
- Two part build: an optics and illumination head plus a cylindrical battery handle, joined by a screw thread
- Rotating lens wheel, the Rekoss disc, carrying a graduated range of plus and minus correcting lenses in single steps rather than a continuous dial
- Separate aperture and filter selector: commonly a small spot, a large spot, a slit, a fixation graticule, a red free filter and a cobalt blue filter, with a half moon spot on wider sets
- Light aimed through a mirror or a prism along the viewing axis
- Handle in a 2.5 V or a 3.5 V system, matched to the head, the higher voltage giving more light
- Lamp replaceable at the head; halogen and LED light sources are both current
- Direct pattern is hand held and needs no separate lens; indirect pattern is head worn or held at a distance and is used with a separate condensing lens

TGI checks the material at the factory against its own requirement before it goes into production. That check is TGI's own inspection, not an independent laboratory test.
TGI manufactures in its own factory in Sialkot and also supplies articles made by contracted partner workshops, to TGI's specification. Which applies to a given article is confirmed on your order.
One-year guarantee on Premium and Executive tier instruments, hollowware and sterilization containers: any technical manufacturing defect, including material faults and rust, is replaced free of charge. Damage from handling or accidents is not covered. The year runs from the day the goods leave Sialkot.
If something is wrong with a delivery (a manufacturing defect, or a short or wrong article), tell us on WhatsApp within 7 days of delivery, with a video and photographs of what arrived. Replacement instruments are sent free of charge and dispatched within 24 hours of us seeing them; you pay the shipping, and they reach you as a normal order does.
Damage that happened after the goods left Sialkot is a claim against your carrier. The video of your parcel at the shipping office is sent to you before shipment and is the evidence that claim needs.
